Two weeks ago we had the fun opportunity to work with RBC at the RBC Heritage Golf Tournament in Hilton Head, SC. Specifically we were the photographers at the RBC Fan Experience tent. This was an amazing area where spectators could come, get their portrait against a green screen, and have it printed out on the cover of a Golf Digest magazine. It was the next best thing to the actual tournament – or maybe tied with the grey Goose tent. ha!
We arrived on Tuesday morning to meet the team and to have Wasserman Media Group and IMG Live walk us through the whole process from taking the photo to printing the magazine cover. One thing RBC really wanted was to have professional photographers who could help improve the quality of the images. Arriving early allowed us to figure out a good lighting setup to make the images looking great. We were later told that they were very pleased with the way everything went and we definitely brought everything up a level in quality. This is always wonderful to hear!
Wednesday through Sunday we were slammed with tons of fans wanting to be the star of Golf Digest. We were in high gear. Both TJ and I were running the photography and editing portion of the booth, and then behind us, in another room, was an amazing team from IMG Live. They printed out all the covers and assembled them on to the current Golf Digest issue. It was team work to the max. The line of people was seemingly never ending until it was time to close shop for the day. It was fun being the place to be between the 17th and 18th holes.
Below I will show you examples of what the final product looked like. TJ and I managed to capture some fun shots of us throughout the week. One highlight was getting a cover shot of TJ, myself, and Stephen Dey . Stephen is the Official Photographer for the RBC Heritage, and was our contact in getting this great opportunity. He also owns a great portrait company in Hilton Head, SC, Memory Lane Portraits.
Ryan & Trevor were our main contacts and representatives for the RBC Fan Experience. They did such a great job making sure everything ran smoothly. Not only did they provide a great fan experience, but they also made it a great experience for us. By the end of the week TJ and I really felt like part of the team.
Thank you, RBC, for bringing us on board this year at the RBC Heritage Golf Tournament. Not only was it great to be among a great community of golfers and fans, but it is always a pleasure to come back to Hilton Head, SC. We would love to come back next year and help make it an even better RBC Fan Experience….perhaps with better weather too.
Please enjoy the images below. Most were snapshots taken by some of the team, some are from my iPhone, and then there are examples of what we were shooting and delivering to each fan. Enjoy!
I cannot forget to congratulate Matt Kuchar for winning the 2014 RBC Heritage! You did a fantastic job. Though we were busy in the RBC Fan Experience tent, we definitely heard the fans go wild on the 18th when you sunk your bunker shot. Congratulations!
Unfortunately this is how the weather was most of the time. But, it didn’t stop all the fans! Fun was still had and the game continued on!

We did have a beautiful clear day among the rainy ones!
On our daily walks from the shuttle bus to the RBC tent, I enjoyed capturing the beauty of Harbour Town.
Everyone was excited to have Pro Golfer, Geoff Ogilvy, join them in the portraits.
Pro Golfers, Pat Perez & James Driscoll, came and hung out for a while too!
Everyone was so excited and had such big smiles when they saw their face on Golf Digest!
Sir William Innes even made an appearance!
I had to represent Plaid Nation!
Ready for another day!
James Driscoll & Pat Perez joined us at the RBC tent to take portraits with the fans. It was great!
