A Birth Story: Landon Guy
As most of you know, I am an “Auntie” who is head over heels in love with her niece and nephew! It has been an amazing year watching both my brothers and sisters (in-love) become parents. So proud of each of them!
When Selah was born, I missed being at the hospital with the family as TJ and I were working in Hilton Head all Summer. I did, however, drive up three days later to do her newborn session. (You can see that here). So, this time around, with Landon’s birth, I was making sure that we were in town. I wasn’t about to miss seeing him on the day he was born and hopefully snap a few photos of the family throughout the day.
When the day came in March, Jacob called and said that they were headed to Matthews Presby (Now known as Novant Health) to prepare for being induced the following morning. I got so excited and started prepping my camera. I had texted Alisha asking if I could document some of the hours leading up to his birth, and was just waiting to hear back from her. When she called, not only did she say it was ok for me to take photos, but she also asked if I would like to be in the room when Landon makes his appearance. WOW! Tears filled my eyes and I said “Absolutely!!”. This was a new experience for me and I was so honored that Jacob & Alisha asked me to be in there to witness the birth of my nephew. It was something I hadn’t expected! Needless to say, I hurried up and drove to the hospital to grab a few images from that first evening and to spend time with the family in their hospital room.
The next day and a half was such a beautiful, intense, exhausting, and amazing journey. I witnessed strength from Alisha that I had never seen before. I saw Jacob support and love his wife throughout it all. There was laughter, tears, dancing from two silly sisters (Amanda & me), and joy overflowing from every family member there that day.
I really could write pages about this, but I’m going to let you view these beautiful images of an experience that I will never forget. One of the many favorite things of the day was seeing my sister in-love, Mallory, (who is a labor and delivery nurse at the same hospital) as Alisha’s nurse. She seriously was/is AMAZING! I loved seeing her in action. So much love, patience, & peace flowed through Mallory as she helped walk Alisha through this journey. Jacob and Alisha had the best support team and I’m so thankful I was there to capture it for them. Seeing them lay their eyes on Landon for the first time was amazing. It was truly love at first sight.
Landon Guy, you are so precious. I loved seeing you enter this world and being placed into your mommy’s arms after you took your first breath. To see your daddy hold you for the first time was so moving. You are loved by so many people and have seriously been born to a couple of awesome parents. I’m sure you have realized this already too, but the Woodfin’s and the Brinkley’s are a fun & silly bunch! We are all good hearted and love deeply, but we are silly. Just ask Selah, she knows how strange we are! Ha. But, regardless of our quirky selves, know that you will always be loved by all your family! XOXO

So I must end with a very funny video that Alisha took of Amanda and me while we were being “cheerleaders”. We had so much fun being a part of the support system for Alisha & Jacob. It’s definitely an experience that we now share together.

And one more photo of my brother and me. So proud of Jacob and the wonderful Father that he is!
